House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is involved in negotiations for the second stimulus package along with U.S Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, just announced that the second stimulus package may be postponed to August because of delays in negotiations between the House and Senate.
This means the $600 weekly unemployment benefits booster will expire, and there could be a lapse between the end of those benefits and the reinstatement of the weekly unemployments booster IF it does indeed get extended.
McCarthy also emphasized liability protection for small businesses and schools.

A $600 per week federal unemployment benefit buoying millions of Americans expires at the end of July.
On a call with House Democrats today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she hopes the parties “can resolve our differences and have a bill by the end of next week,” according to a source on the call.
