The 4 percent rule for retirement is very common indeed. Whether you believe in the 4% rule for retirement or not, the key is to follow some common sense investing principles, if you want to enjoy the benefits of early retirement.
Instead of giving you early retirement tips and boring the same financial education you get on other financial freedom channels, I’m going to show you a simple retirement planning calculator I use as the basis of my financial independence early retirement goals.
Now I know there are a lot of vocal supporters of financial independence fire movements and there are a lot of different views on how to achieve financial independence retire early, but for me personally, it comes down to personal factors that affect financial planning.
Financial planning for early retirement requires that you answer three specific questions:
- How much can i spend in retirement. After all, retirement spending will be different for each of us.
- Do I want to retire early? You need to ask yourself – how to retire early, how to retire young (if that’s your goal).
- What should your retirement withdrawal be? In other words, what’s a safe withdrawal method or safe withdrawal rate?
