There are unintended consequences to everything.

In this new training video, we answer the question “What to do when staff prefers unemployment” (especially when you have the PPP funds and WANT to put them back on payroll)
The distribution of PPP funds along with increased unemployment claims and the “$600 Unemployment Booster Shot” (New York Times) has created an unusual economic event.
Employers (now) have the money to cover payroll. Further, employers have to spend this money in the next 8 weeks to ‘maintain the size of their workforce’, otherwise they have to pay it back.
Many employees, on the other hand, want to remain unemployed. Fear and apprehension to return, along with high unemployment wages (workers in more than half of states will receive, on average, more in unemployment benefits than their normal salaries) are resulting in uneven benefits. The net result – an employer-employee dynamic never seen before in the history of our nation, or the world.
