Cincinnati’s NBC affiliate WLWT5 reported that some pandemic unemployment payments suddenly paused during a ‘potential fraud investigation’, leading to mounting complaints regarding Ohio’s Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA program, and stalled payments.
The PUA program helps self-employed workers, 1099 tax filers and part-time workers receive benefits.
People across the state said they were locked out of their accounts and now have fraud holds, blocking their weekly unemployment benefit payments.
